Pokémon Battle Revolution udspiller sig på øen Pokétopia, hvor dit mål er at kæmpe dig til titlen som Pokétopia-mester. Pokémon Battle Revolution er det allerførste Wii-spil, der kan kobles sammen med Nintendo DS, hvilket betyder, at du kan overføre dine Pokémon fra Pokémon Diamond og Pokémon Pearl trådløst og se dem kæmpe i fuld 3-D!
Pokémon Battle Revolution har tre forskellige spilfunktioner: Colosseum Battle Mode, DS Battle Mode og Wi-Fi Battle Mode. I Colosseum Battle Mode er det dit mål at kæmpe dig igennem en række Colosseum'er - alle med hver deres regler og udfordringer.
I DS Battle Mode kan to til fire spillere kæmpe sammen og se deres Pokémon på tv-skærmen, mens de bruger deres Nintendo DS-maskiner som håndkontroller. For at deltage her må hver spiller være i besiddelse af en Nintendo DS og af enten Nintendo DS-spillet Pokémon Diamond eller Pokémon Pearl.
Det bliver yderst interessant i Wi-Fi Battle Mode, der lader dig kæmpe mod venner over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection via Friend Codes. Du kan også sammenligne dig med trænere i hele verden via det Wi-Fi Rank System, som er tilgængeligt i Pokémon Battle Revolution. Systemet kan matche dig med en vilkårlig træner med samme evner, som du kan kæmpe imod.
