The First Generation er et storslået 35-disc bokssæt, der dokumenterer John Mayalls banebrydende indflydelse på den britiske bluesscene i perioden 1965–1974. Med fuld opbakning fra Mayall selv samler boksen alle hans banebrydende albumudgivelser fra Decca- og Polydor-årene i spritny remasteret lyd, flankeret af en imponerende mængde hidtil uudgivet materiale, liveoptagelser og eksklusive samlerobjekter.

Blandt højdepunkterne er musik fra syv hidtil uudgivne koncerter – herunder legendariske shows i Windsor 1967, Göteborg 1968, Berlin 1969 og San Francisco 1970 – samt hele 28 sjældne BBC-indspilninger med navne som Eric Clapton, Peter Green og Mick Taylor. Boksen kaster også lys over den kreative proces bag Mayalls værker via originale fanbreve, pressemateriale og koncertplakater, alt præsenteret i luksuriøs kvalitet med to smukke hardback-bøger. En personligt signeret fotoprint følger med som prikken over i’et.

John Mayalls Bluesbreakers har huset nogle af de største navne i britisk blues og rock, heriblandt Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Mick Fleetwood, Jon Hiseman, Harvey Mandel og Blue Mitchell.
