The Way It Seems: Selected Short Stories offers a compelling glimpse into life in Denmark through the eyes of Knud Sørensen, a celebrated Danish author. This collection showcases his deep connection to rural landscapes and everyday experiences.
A rich portrayal of Danish life through poetry and prose by Knud Sørensen.
Knud Sørensen, born in 1928, spent 28 years working as a certified land surveyor, which gave him an intimate understanding of Denmark's agricultural environment. Over a career spanning more than fifty years, he has crafted an impressive and original body of work that reflects the nuances of rural Danish life.
His writing captures the economic and political fluctuations of the times, while also highlighting the profound relationship between people and nature-the foundation of existence itself. Sørensen's extensive bibliography includes 48 books encompassing biographies, poetry, novels, short stories, essays, and memoirs.
In addition to his literary achievements, he worked as a book reviewer for 14 years and collaborated with various artists on art exhibitions and books. His contributions have earned him over 20 literary awards, including a lifelong grant from the Danish Arts Council.
In recognition of his remarkable career, Sørensen was honored with the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy in November 2014, the highest distinction awarded to Danish authors for their lifetime achievements.
