Through roughly 150 breathtaking photographs and personal stories shared by the hunters themselves, author Ragnar Axelsson offers a moving testament to these remarkable animals and their deep connection to Arctic life.

All images were taken in Greenland between 1986 and 2020, showcasing decades of life in this remote region.

Ragnar Axelsson, also known as RAX, is an Icelandic photographer who has spent over 40 years documenting the people, animals, and landscapes of the Arctic’s most isolated areas, including Iceland, Siberia, and Greenland. His striking black-and-white photos reveal the raw, elemental bond between humans and nature at the edge of habitable land-relationships now profoundly reshaped by unprecedented climate shifts.
