In 2016, Bex Band embarked on a life-changing 1000km walk across Israel with her husband, including a risky trek through the Negev desert. This challenging journey helped her rebuild her confidence and self-worth. Three Stripes South shares the story of this remarkable adventure and the new path Bex created afterward.

Bex Band’s 2016 trek across Israel was more than just a physical challenge-it was a turning point. Facing intense heat, exhaustion, and moments of self-doubt, she pushed through barriers both external and internal. The journey took her through the vast Negev desert, a daunting part of the 1000km route she and her husband undertook.

This experience sparked a transformation in Bex’s life, helping her overcome years of low self-esteem rooted in childhood struggles with undiagnosed dyslexia and bullying. She had spent much of her adult life stuck in unhappy jobs and battling depression, feeling incapable of achieving much.

After completing the trek, Bex founded the Love Her Wild community, dedicated to empowering women through outdoor adventures. She now champions gender equality in adventure travel, regularly speaking, blogging, and leading women on expeditions worldwide. Her inspiring story has earned her multiple award nominations for her advocacy work supporting women in the outdoors.
