Frederik VI was King of Denmark from 1806 to 1839, having first ruled as Crown Prince after a coup in 1784. His reign included significant agricultural reforms and challenges during the Napoleonic Wars.

Frederik VI began his rule as Crown Prince, taking power in 1784 through a coup d’état on behalf of Christian VII. Early in his regency, he introduced progressive measures, notably major agricultural reforms, working closely with skilled advisors.

However, his time as king was marked by difficulties, especially during the Napoleonic Wars. Denmark faced major conflicts such as the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801, the Bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807, and ultimately the loss of Norway in 1814.

Frederik VI was not a supporter of revolutions, yet he ruled during a period when absolute monarchy was increasingly questioned. As king, he had to respond to growing calls for social reforms and adapt to the changing political landscape.
