But when she meets Aled, the quiet genius behind her favourite podcast, she begins to discover who she truly is. Their friendship opens up a new world for Frances, but when the podcast suddenly goes viral, everything starts to unravel.

A heartfelt coming-of-age story about identity, friendship, and finding the courage to be yourself.

In Alice Oseman's second novel, Frances is a determined study machine, focused solely on achieving her dream university place. She’s willing to sacrifice friendships and hide her true self to reach that goal. But meeting Aled changes everything. He is the shy creator of the podcast she adores, and through him, Frances experiences genuine friendship and the freedom to be authentic for the first time.

However, when their podcast gains unexpected fame, the delicate trust between Frances and Aled begins to crack. Frances finds herself torn between the person she has always been and the person she wants to become. Haunted by guilt, she must confront her past and reveal the truth behind Carys’ disappearance.

Meanwhile, at university, Aled faces his own battles, carrying even darker secrets alone. This story shows that facing your fears is the only way to overcome them, and that true happiness comes from embracing your real self.

Radio Silence is a powerful YA novel that explores themes of identity, the pressure to succeed, diversity, and the freedom to choose. It’s a bold and moving read from one of the most exciting voices of her generation.
