Beskrivelse

Bob Woodward's book Rage offers an unprecedented and deeply personal look into the Trump presidency amid a global pandemic, economic turmoil, and racial unrest. Through exclusive reporting, Woodward reveals the critical moments when Trump was warned about the severity of Covid-19 and provides a rare glimpse into the president's mindset during these turbulent times.

An intimate and revealing account of Trump's response to the crises of 2020.

Rage takes readers inside the Oval Office, capturing the moment in January 2020 when Trump was informed that the Covid-19 pandemic could rival the deadly 1918 Spanish Flu. Based on 17 candid interviews with the president over seven intense months, Woodward presents a vivid self-portrait of Trump-part denial, part combative, yet occasionally revealing doubt about the dangers facing his presidency.

The book explores how Trump's reactions to the 2020 crises were shaped by the instincts and habits he developed during his first three years in office. It also revisits the early days of his administration, highlighting the struggles of key figures like Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats to maintain national security amid the president's dismantling of traditional decision-making processes.

Drawing from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand witnesses, as well as notes, emails, diaries, calendars, and confidential documents, Woodward offers a comprehensive inside view. Among the revelations are 25 personal letters exchanged between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who describes their relationship as something out of a "fantasy film." Rage is an essential read for anyone wanting an accurate and vivid portrait of the Trump years.
