Vaesen : Spirits And Monsters Of Scandinavian Folklore

Beskrivelse

Discover the mysterious and eerie creatures lurking in Scandinavian folklore with this special anniversary edition of Vaesen. Celebrating ten years since its original release, this edition adds ten new fascinating and fearsome beings to the collection.

A captivating journey through the supernatural beings of Scandinavian forests, lakes, and mountains.

Johan Egerkrans brings to life a stunning array of creatures from Scandinavian myths that have captivated audiences beyond their region. The dark woods, deep waters, and towering mountains of Scandinavia are said to be inhabited by the little people, the invisibles, or simply the fair folk.

These entities are often blamed when unexplained events occur-whether it's someone disappearing in the forest, milk curdling overnight, strange noises echoing in the attic, or mysterious illnesses taking hold.

While some beings like ghosts, giants, dragons, trolls, werewolves, and faeries are known across Europe, others are uniquely Scandinavian. These include the Neck, ruler of the rivers; the nightly Mara; the forest guardian Huldra; as well as tomtar, mylings, and many more.

Both author and illustrator, Johan Egerkrans, shares his insights into what he considers the most significant and intriguing figures in Scandinavian folklore, making this a must-have for fans of myth and legend.
