Behold The Dreamers

Beskrivelse

Set in New York City during 2007, this novel follows Jende Jonga, a recent immigrant from Cameroon, as he begins his climb toward the American dream. Working as a chauffeur for a high-ranking Lehman Brothers executive, Jende and his family find themselves drawn into the lives of the financial elite.

A gripping story about ambition, opportunity, and the fragile line between success and loss.

Jende Jonga has just landed a job driving for Clark Edwards, a senior partner at Lehman Brothers, though Clark is too busy to properly vet his new employee. This position pulls Jende, his wife Neni, and their young son into the exclusive world of New York’s financial upper class.

When Cindy Edwards, Clark’s wife, offers Neni a job and shares her confidences, the Jongas start to believe that the elusive American dream might finally be within reach. However, beneath the surface, the Edwards family is hiding troubling secrets.

As the financial crisis begins to unravel, the cracks in their employers’ lives widen, threatening to spill over into the Jongas’ world. Both families face difficult choices about how far they will go to protect their dreams and what they are willing to sacrifice along the way.
