Beskrivelse
Discover the enchanting world of Drottningholm, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning palace, vast gardens, unique theatre, and the delightful Chinese Pavilion. This royal residence has been home to monarchs and royals across generations.
An intimate journey through Drottningholm's rich history and royal heritage.
Princess Christina shares her deep connection with Drottningholm, a place she has cherished since childhood, spending every Christmas there and attending numerous official and private events. Her fascination lies in the palace’s history, its surroundings, and especially the remarkable women who have left their mark on this royal estate.
In this beautifully illustrated book, Christina brings history to life by focusing on specific dates that highlight royal figures, rooms, and treasured memories. She recounts stories such as the young widow Hedvig Eleonora’s grand building projects, dance performances in the historic theatre, and her grandfather Gustaf VI Adolf’s garden plans.
She also shares personal moments like playing in the snow with her siblings in the palace park, secret whispers in the Chinese Pavilion, and her wedding waltz with her husband Tord Magnuson in Karl X Gustav’s Gallery.
Co-written with journalist Carl Otto Werkelid, formerly arts editor at Svenska Dagbladet and cultural counsellor at the Swedish Embassy in London, the text is complemented by stunning photographs from one of Sweden’s most renowned photographers, Ralf Turander.
