Following the upheaval of the Arab Spring, northern Africa, and Egypt in particular, went through significant turmoil. Egypt saw the fall of its government, the rise of a radical religious regime, and later the establishment of military rule, which caused a sharp decline in tourism. Many map publishers stopped producing maps of the country during this period.

Now, five years on, Egypt has regained stability and tourism is on the rise again. This updated ITMB map focuses on the parts of Egypt that have reopened to visitors, stretching from the Mediterranean coast down to the Aswan Dam. The southernmost regions and the border crossing with Sudan remain closed for the time being, while the border areas near Libya continue to experience instability.

To address this, the map includes a large inset covering the entire country, mainly highlighting the desert areas. It also features a list of Egypt’s top tombs for those interested in history and archaeology.

The reverse side offers a detailed map of Cairo, including an inset of the Giza Pyramid complex just west of the city. Another inset covers the Cairo region, showing all known tombs west of the Nile River down to Helwan. The back cover provides a schematic layout of Cairo’s rapid transit system, and there is a third inset displaying Alexandria and surrounding coastal urban areas.

Printed on stone paper, this map is waterproof, durable, and eco-friendly, ensuring it withstands the rigors of travel while being biodegradable. The scale is 1:1,000,000 for Egypt and 1:12,000 for Cairo, providing precise detail for explorers and tourists alike.
