On October 7th, 2023, Eli Sharabi’s peaceful life with his wife Lianne and their daughters Noiya and Yahel was shattered when Hamas terrorists stormed their home. Dragged barefoot from his front door while his family looked on in terror, Eli was thrown into the suffocating darkness of Gaza’s tunnels.

For 491 days, he endured brutal conditions-starvation, isolation, physical beatings, and psychological torment-while war raged above. Despite the overwhelming pain and loneliness, Eli clung to the hope of being reunited with his loved ones.

This memoir, the first from a released Israeli hostage and Israel’s fastest-selling book, offers a raw, firsthand account of survival under extreme cruelty. It explores not only the physical and emotional toll of captivity but also the strength and resilience that kept Eli going.

His story highlights:

• the deep bonds formed between captives,
