Beskrivelse
Discover the origins of Spider-Man, the iconic hero who broke all the rules when he first swung onto the scene in the early 1960s. This collection captures the first thrilling adventures of Peter Parker, the teenager behind the mask.
The groundbreaking beginnings of Spider-Man, from his humble start to becoming a legendary Marvel character.
When Stan Lee first proposed Spider-Man in 1962, his idea faced plenty of skepticism. His boss doubted a spider-themed hero would catch on-after all, people dislike spiders, and teenagers were usually sidekicks, not leads. Plus, the hero was supposed to be glamorous and successful, not a lonely, struggling kid. But Stan Lee stood firm, and Martin Goodman gave him a chance to introduce Spider-Man in the soon-to-be-canceled Amazing Fantasy.
With Spider-Man gracing the cover of issue No. 15, the comic soared to the top of Marvel's sales charts that year, sparking a new era. Just seven months later, The Amazing Spider-Man launched, turning the comic world upside down. Peter Parker wasn’t your typical superhero-he lived in Queens, was often broke, worried about his Aunt May, faced romantic troubles, and got scolded regularly by his boss, J. Jonah Jameson of the Daily Bugle.
Spider-Man’s witty, confident persona was a sharp contrast to Parker’s awkwardness. Learning to master his powers was a constant struggle, especially when facing a lineup of memorable villains introduced early on: Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, and the Green Goblin.
Much of Spider-Man’s enduring appeal comes from co-creator and artist Steve Ditko, whose talent for capturing teenage life and energy brought the character to life. Ditko’s dynamic artwork made swinging through New York City look like the ultimate thrill, even if spiders themselves weren’t everyone's favorite.
