New Brunswick, once called Acadia by the Breton settlers from Brittany, France, has a fascinating past. These Acadians were deported by the British to the French-controlled Louisiana Territory, where they became known as Cajuns. Many later returned to the area, which was renamed New Brunswick during the American Revolutionary War. Today, the province coexists peacefully with the many settlers brought in by the British during that turbulent time.
