Beskrivelse
Trolls have journeyed from the dark lava fields of Iceland and the thick Scandinavian pinewoods into the wider global imagination. While they may no longer be known for stealing goats or devouring people, they still hold a reputation for being mischievous and dangerous-sometimes even amusing and oddly endearing.
A captivating exploration of trolls from ancient mythology to modern tales.
Originating from the earliest Scandinavian myths, trolls are fascinatingly contradictory beings. They can be as gigantic and monstrous as mountains or appear modest and human-like. Nineteenth-century accounts from Iceland and Scandinavia describe trolls as creatures who kidnap, invade farms, lurk in shadowy landscapes, demand human brides, devour unwary travelers, and occasionally offer help to those they meet.
Carolyne Larrington brings together these tales in an engaging compendium that spans from medieval times to the present day. Readers will encounter trolls that are kind, dangerous, foolish, and everything in between.
Well-researched and entertainingly written, The Little Book of Trolls is a must-read for fantasy enthusiasts and a perfect introduction to the wonderfully unappealing world of trolls.
