The Memoirs Of Sherlock Holmes

Beskrivelse

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes continues the thrilling adventures of the world’s most famous detective. This collection introduces key new characters and builds up to a dramatic showdown that changes everything.

A gripping second series of tales featuring Holmes’ brother and his deadliest foe.

After completing the twelve stories in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes for The Strand Magazine, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was beginning to grow weary of his iconic detective. However, the financial rewards encouraged him to keep going. This led to the creation of the second series, known as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes.

This collection brought in memorable figures like Holmes’ lazy brother, Mycroft, and the detective’s most formidable enemy, Professor James Moriarty, famously dubbed the 'Napoleon of Crime'. Among the stories featured are 'The Adventure of the Resident Patient' and 'The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter', both of which Doyle later regarded as some of his best work.

The series builds to a dramatic climax in 'The Final Problem', where Moriarty is tasked with ending the career of the world’s greatest consulting detective in a deadly confrontation at The Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland.
