The increased visibility of Muslims across Europe has often been perceived as a challenge to dominant ideas about the secular nature of modern public spaces. In Norway, over the past ten years, there has been a noticeable rise in the involvement of young, often well-educated and articulate second-generation Muslim individuals in public discussions.

These debates, which are frequently controversial and highly mediated, revolve around topics such as Islam, Muslim communities, immigration, and integration. This monograph draws on five years of ethnographic research, focusing on the experiences of these young Muslims who actively participate in Norway's mediated public arenas.

It also considers the role of mainstream liberal media editors who have granted these voices access to public discourse, offering a comprehensive look at the intersection of media, politics, and minority representation.
