The Spy And The Traitor

Beskrivelse

A gripping Cold War tale following Oleg Gordijevskij, a KGB officer turned double agent for MI6. His daring espionage played a crucial role in unveiling Soviet secrets and reshaping intelligence history.

An extraordinary story of espionage, betrayal, and bravery during the Cold War.

In 1965, Oleg Gordijevskij was assigned to Copenhagen as a Soviet diplomat, secretly working for the KGB to recruit spies. But in 1974, everything changed when he was recruited by MI6 to become a double agent. Operating from Denmark and later London, Gordijevskij provided British intelligence with invaluable information from deep inside the Soviet system.

Over more than ten years, his intelligence led to the exposure of key figures such as Arne Treholt in Norway and Stig Bergling in Sweden. His work inflicted unprecedented damage on the KGB.

Eventually uncovered in 1985, Gordijevskij orchestrated a dramatic escape from Moscow, marking one of the most daring feats in espionage history.

Ben Macintyre’s The Spy and the Traitor unveils this remarkable journey of deception, loyalty, and courage that forever altered the Cold War’s course.
