Beskrivelse
We and They explores the relationship between modernity and antiquity, aiming to rethink how we perceive the past. This collection challenges traditional views that either place antiquity as a direct predecessor or as something entirely separate from the present.
Decolonizing antiquity to foster genuine dialogue between past and present.
This volume brings together articles united by a shared purpose: to decolonize our approach to understanding antiquity. By doing so, it encourages a conversation between modern times and ancient history that avoids limiting the past to being either a straightforward precursor or a completely alien counterpart to the present.
While it is true that the past feels like a foreign land, history has shown that colonialism has never led to meaningful mutual understanding or fruitful exchanges of ideas. Instead, this collection advocates for a dialogue that promotes constructive interaction, not only among contemporaries but also between us and those who lived before.
