Beskrivelse
Joachim Koester’s exhibition, Patterns, Shimmers, Scenes, takes you on a journey through generations of consciousness embedded in our landscapes and everyday objects. His works serve as mysterious snapshots of abandoned places, unveiling extraordinary histories.
An exploration of invisible histories through enigmatic images and expanded consciousness.
Koester’s pieces can be seen as space-time voyages, tracing how layers of awareness have settled within the geography and items around us. Described by Koester himself as an “index of invisible things,” these artworks invite viewers to engage with them beyond their surface.
Each work acts as a guide or technique to broaden your awareness of the deeper imprints within your mind and environment. They encourage reflection on the historical forces that decide which stories are preserved and which fade away.
The book opens with a foreword by Mikkel Bogh, director of SMK, and Cecilie Høgsbro Østergaard, editor-in-chief. This is followed by a detailed guide to Koester’s photographic oeuvre, crafted by curator and senior researcher Vibeke Vibolt Knudsen.
Additionally, the publication features eight insightful texts penned by Koester himself, focusing on selected works from the exhibition, enriching the reader’s understanding of his artistic vision.
