Beskrivelse
This book addresses the challenge of sea level rise and how cities door may respond to it. With a changing climate, the level of the seas is expected to rise with increasing haste over the next centuries, jeopardizing millions of people living in smaller or larger urban communities along the coastlines.
The extent and speed of this process is, however, uncertain, which puts coastal cities in the difficult position of deciding which urban planning and design responses are adequate: Where to protect and how? Where to let the water in and live with it? Where and when to change land use from urban to wetland, and how such a transition can happen in a positive way?
The book is based on the research project Cities and Sea Level Rise (2019-2024) and brings together contributions from 30 international experts in law, governance, risk assessment, urban and landscape planning and design, ranging from young researchers to established professors
