Beskrivelse
Reservoir 13 is a powerful novel that follows the impact of a teenage girl's disappearance on a small English village over thirteen years. It captures the tension between tragedy and the persistence of everyday life.
A deeply moving story of loss, community, and the unyielding passage of time.
Set in the early 2000s during a cold midwinter, the story begins when a teenage girl vanishes while on holiday in the hills at the heart of England. The local villagers join the search, spreading out across the moors as police establish roadblocks and reporters swarm the usually peaceful community.
Despite the ongoing search, daily life continues unabated. Cows still need milking, fences must be fixed, stone cut, pints poured, beds made, sermons prepared, and a pantomime rehearsed.
Spanning thirteen years, Reservoir 13 delves into the rhythms of nature and the recurring presence of human violence. Jon McGregor's award-winning novel masterfully explores how a single family's loss ripples through a community, refusing to fade away.
