An in-depth look at a liberating acting approach grounded in Guskin’s principles.

Jesper Trier Gissel began training film actors at Nørgaards Højskole in 2006, basing his work on the straightforward yet powerful approach developed by Harold Guskin. He crafted a course designed to stay as true as possible to Guskin’s philosophy while adapting it for a classroom setting filled with actors.

"The Generous Actor" presents a full description of this course, including the flow and choreography of exercises. It also shares Gissel’s reflections on art and acting, shaped by years of academic study, personal acting experience, and actor training.

Over time, Gissel has trained numerous actors who have gone on to appear in Danish television and film. He has also built a strong network of directors, actors, casting professionals, and producers within Denmark’s movie and TV scene.

The book includes endorsements from respected actors, directors, and acting coaches who praise Gissel’s work as:

• “useful and liberating for readers and actors”
• “a non-method that avoids restrictive rules and frees individual artistic creativity”
• “no bullshit acting”

Among the supporters are Danish Academy Award nominee Claes Quaade and veteran producer/director Steen Herdel. For further details and full endorsements, visit www.facebook.com/thegenerousactor/
