Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince has earned its place alongside classics like A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, and Peter Pan as one of the twentieth century’s most treasured children’s books.

Born in Lyon in 1900, Saint-Exupéry was a pioneering aviator who began his pilot training in 1921. By 1926, he was at the forefront of international postal flights. In 1935, during a record attempt to fly from Paris to Saigon, his plane crashed in the Sahara Desert. Though he survived the crash, he endured three harrowing days facing dehydration, scarce food, and hallucinations before being rescued on the fourth day. This extraordinary ordeal partly inspired the story of The Little Prince.

Saint-Exupéry continued flying until World War II, when he chose self-imposed exile. Tragically, on July 31, 1944, he vanished over the Mediterranean while on a reconnaissance mission, leaving behind a legacy through his unforgettable literary work.
