The Parade

Beskrivelse

Set in a nameless country emerging from a decade-long war, The Parade follows two foreign contractors tasked with building a road to unite the divided state. Their contrasting approaches to the job reveal deeper tensions and unexpected consequences.

A thought-provoking exploration of war, peace, and the complexities of understanding another nation's struggle.

The government commissions a new highway to mark the end of a long conflict, aiming to connect the two halves of the country. Two men from the same contracting company arrive to complete the project, each with very different attitudes.

One is adventurous and eager to dive into the local nightlife and culture, while the other prefers to focus solely on the work and return home as soon as possible. Despite their differences, both are forced to confront the absurd realities of their roles and the serious impact their presence has on the place and people around them.

Drawing comparisons to the works of J. M. Coetzee and Graham Greene, this enduring novel challenges readers to consider whether it’s ever possible to truly grasp another country’s war, and what part outsiders play in shaping the peace that follows.
