Beskrivelse
Discover the fascinating interpretation of ancient sun stones and a shale plate from the Vasagård and Rispebjerg sites on Bornholm, Denmark. These artifacts, dating back to around 2900-2700 BCE, are believed to hold significant astronomical information.
Decoding ancient patterns to reveal a lunisolar calendar and planetary orbits.
This study focuses on four sun stones and one shale plate, each marked with indented or incised patterns, unearthed from the Vasagård and Rispebjerg archaeological sites on Bornholm.
The Vasagård site has undergone multiple excavations. In 2017, the Vasagård Udgravningen AU dig uncovered numerous shale and sandstone sunstones, along with clay disks featuring eyeholes. Other finds included copper items, burned flint axes, flint chisels, arrows, clay pots, food remnants, and various artifacts.
These objects were discovered within south-facing circular timber post holes and causewayed ditches. The earliest sunstones date from approximately 2900 to 2800 BCE, a brief period when Vasagård was enclosed by palisades and featured circular timber structures.
Similar circular timber constructions were also identified at Rispebjerg and Nørre Grødbygård, likely spanning from 2900 to 2700 BCE.
Through careful deciphering, the incised patterns on these stones are proposed to represent a lunisolar calendar, as well as records of the orbits of Venus, the Moon, and Mercury.
