Beskrivelse
This travel atlas charts a practical route from Tangier in Morocco all the way down to Cape Town, South Africa. It covers diverse countries across West and Central Africa, offering detailed maps and essential travel information.
A comprehensive guide mapping a safer, well-planned journey through Africa’s western and central regions.
This atlas presents a carefully chosen route starting in Tangier, Morocco, passing through Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Ghana, and continuing through the Congo to Uganda. From there, it offers several options for heading south toward Namibia and South Africa. Designed at a scale of 1:3.4 million, the route strategically avoids conflict zones and areas affected by extremist Islamist movements. It also steers clear of the challenging central route through Algeria (the Hoggar route) and Niger.
Travelers should be aware that all African routes carry inherent risks. Roads can be underdeveloped and prone to disruptions. Countries with significant Muslim populations may face threats linked to extremist activities, though this route is considered safer compared to alternatives. Crossing the Sahara remains tough due to shifting sand dunes, but the new coastal highway through Morocco and Mauritania has made reaching Senegal much more accessible.
Crossing the Congo is still difficult because of poor infrastructure, but once in Uganda, travelers have multiple options for heading south. Angola is not included in this atlas due to limited information about travel conditions, though there is no known reason to avoid it.
