Beskrivelse

Explore the latest edition of Free Movement in the European Union, Cases, Commentaries, and Questions, which reflects on recent major events such as Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, and ongoing political challenges within the EU. This book delves into how these developments have influenced the Court of Justice of the European Union’s case law on fundamental freedoms and constitutional matters.

A comprehensive collection of important CJEU rulings on the EU's fundamental freedoms, enriched with insightful commentary and thought-provoking questions.

This updated edition gathers key judgments from the Court of Justice of the European Union that address the fundamental freedoms of goods, persons, services, establishment, and capital. Each case is thoughtfully paired with commentaries and questions designed to encourage deeper reflection on the decisions and their broader effects.

Originally designed for courses focused on internal market law, this volume is also ideal for anyone wanting a thorough understanding of the Court’s rulings on the fundamental freedoms protected by the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

The authors bring distinguished expertise to the book:

  • Nina Holst-Christensen serves as Commissioner in EU Law and Human Rights at the Ministry of Justice, is an Adjunct Professor at Aarhus University, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Copenhagen’s Law Faculty.
  • Morten Broberg is Professor and Honorary Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Law, with experience as Legal Secretary to the President of the General Court of the EU, Head of Section in the Danish Ministry of Justice, Acting Judge, and qualified member of the Danish Bar.
  • Henrik Andersen is Professor of International Economic Law at the University of Southern Denmark and Senior Visiting Fellow at UCLan Cyprus, as well as a member of the European Law Institute.
