More Than a House tells the story of how a timber warehouse, originally built as an experiment using untreated wood, was transformed into a cutting-edge workplace. The 1995 structure was designed to test if responsibly sourced timber, with careful detailing and protective construction, could stand the test of time. Over thirty years, the building endured weather and settling, proving its durability.
Instead of tearing down the old warehouse, the project embraced its history and continued the experiment. The existing structure was opened up, with courtyards carved into the deep floor plan to bring daylight inside. Timber frameworks, concrete floors, and façade elements were carefully dismantled, modified, and reused, preserving the building’s original essence while giving it a fresh, contemporary form.
