New Nordic Gardens: Scandinavian Landscape Design

Beskrivelse

Discover the serene beauty of Scandinavian garden and landscape design, shaped by the unique Nordic environment. This book explores the diverse landscapes from Denmark’s flatlands to Norway’s stunning fjords, showcasing remarkable gardens created over the last decade.

An insightful look into the distinct themes and natural influences behind Nordic garden design.

Modern Scandinavian design is widely recognized, but the tranquil Nordic landscapes that inspire it are less familiar to many. These landscapes vary dramatically, from Denmark’s gentle plains to Norway’s towering mountains and fjords. The combination of extended summer daylight, dim winters, slanting light, and dense birch forests has fostered an exceptionally refined approach to garden and landscape design in the region.

This collection highlights the finest gardens developed in Scandinavia during the past ten years, organized around themes that capture the essence of the Nordic lifestyle and atmosphere. These themes include Simplicity, Silence, Fragility, Nakedness, Attunement, Boldness, Openness, and Care.

Each garden is showcased with vivid images and detailed descriptions that explain its unique qualities and distinctly Scandinavian traits. While the timeless appeal of Nordic design has been celebrated worldwide for decades, this book shines a spotlight on the exceptional quality found in its gardens and landscapes.
