Our Future with Nature explores the intersection of art, science, and activism in addressing climate change. This compelling collection features conversations, essays, and creative works centered on environmental challenges and solutions.

This book presents a rich conversation between Danish artists Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen and Morten Poulsen, focusing on aesthetics, protest, and rewilding. Their discussion highlights their shared involvement with the controversial mining activities at Garzweiler in the Hambach forest, alongside Poulsen’s attentive listening practice and Havsteen-Mikkelsen’s rewilding projects.

Namitha Aravind shares her personal experience participating in a seed workshop led by Swedish artist Åsa Sonjasdotter, part of an educational initiative by SixtyEight within the Erasmus+ C6 project. Soil scientist Carsten W. Mueller contributes insights on soils, linking them to climate-induced ice melt and the Naturografie artworks of Italian artist Roberto Ghezzi.

Finnish artist Saara-Maria Kariranta reflects on cultivating empathy towards insects and other creatures, while Rafael Villares, Cuba’s representative at the 2022 Venice Biennale, discusses the collaboration between artists and scientists. Atmospheric scientist Nora Zannoni from Italy’s National Research Council explains key global environmental processes, with a focus on the Arctic and its pronounced climate changes.

The volume also includes introductory texts by Christopher Sand-Iversen of SixtyEight Art Institute and Claus Beier from the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management. The writings are complemented by vibrant full-colour documentation of the exhibitions involved in the project.
