William Shakespeare, born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564, remains one of history’s most renowned playwrights. Though his exact birth date is unknown, it is traditionally observed on April 23rd-the same day he died in 1616, which is also St George's Day.

At eighteen, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, and they had three children together. Around 1585, he joined a touring acting company from London and spent much of his life in the capital.

By 1595, Shakespeare had written several works, including five history plays, six comedies, and his first tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Over his lifetime, he created thirty-seven plays and a vast collection of poetry, earning great fame that paved the way for his lasting legacy.
