At just nine years old, Henning Bitsch created a sculpture from a brick during a free assignment in his craft class. This early work reflects his lifelong fascination with the creative process and his unique perspective on life.

An artist's journey rooted in curiosity and the power of creativity.

When Henning was in 4th grade, he crafted a sculpture from a brick during a craft shop class where the assignment was open-ended. His parents, teacher, and classmates were likely puzzled by his motivation, but this marked the beginning of a deep interest in creativity that has stayed with him ever since.

Henning has always seen the world differently, a trait that sometimes worried those close to him. Despite being a restless individual, he could completely lose himself in the art-making process, especially when developing the steps involved in creating his pieces. This focus could hold his attention for days on end.

While patience for perfecting the finer details was initially lacking, this has improved over time. Henning challenges the common belief that humans are purely rational beings-an assumption on which many welfare systems are built. Although most people adapt to rational behavior, some need medication to cope, while a small group finds solace in art.

This small group, which includes Henning, sometimes produces artworks that might not be immediately accessible. These pieces invite viewers to see them as part of an ongoing process, encouraging reflection on their own place within that creative journey.
