The Ministry Of Time

Beskrivelse

A captivating blend of romance, history, comedy, and literary flair, this novel defies genre boundaries. Recognized as one of the Sunday Times' top 18 novels of the year, it has also earned multiple award nominations and was even chosen by Barack Obama as a reading pick.

A unique story about time travel, unexpected connections, and confronting the past.

The story follows a civil servant who lands an intriguing and well-paid position in a secret government ministry. This ministry gathers 'expats', people plucked from different points in history-to explore whether time travel is possible.

Her job is to act as a 'bridge,' living with and supporting one such expat: Commander Graham Gore, a Victorian polar explorer from 1847. As an adventurer, Gore gradually adapts to the strange new world around him, filled with washing machines, feminism, and Spotify.

Over the course of a long, hot summer, the initial awkwardness between them evolves into friendship and eventually something deeper. But as the true purpose behind the project becomes clear, both Gore and the bridge must face their past decisions and the futures they once imagined.

Can love overcome the histories that have shaped their lives? And how do you resist a history that’s now living right under your roof?
