In The Lives Of Puppets

Beskrivelse

In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune is a queer twist on the classic Pinocchio story, taking you into a mysterious forest where a family made of robots and a human live together. When an unfamiliar android named Hap appears, the peaceful life they’ve built is thrown into chaos.

A heartfelt journey through a world of robots, family bonds, and difficult choices.

Set in a cozy home nestled among tree branches, three robots and a human share a unique family life. Giovanni Lawson, an inventor android with a fatherly spirit, lives alongside a nurse machine with a darkly playful side, a small vacuum cleaner craving affection, and Vic, the human member of their unusual household.

Vic’s discovery and repair of an android called Hap reveals a shadowy history between Hap and Gio-one tied to hunting humans. When Hap accidentally exposes their hiding place to robots from Gio’s past, their sanctuary is shattered. Gio is captured and taken back to his former lab in the City of Electric Dreams.

With Gio’s fate hanging in the balance, Vic and the rest of their assembled family set out on a perilous journey across a strange and unforgiving landscape to rescue him from decommission or reprogramming. Along the way, Vic wrestles with feelings of betrayal and affection toward Hap, confronting the question of whether he can accept love that comes with complications.

Inspired by Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio, this standalone fantasy adventure from the author of The House in the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door blends emotion, imagination, and thrilling action. This edition also includes the touching short story ‘Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!’ set in the same captivating world.
