Beskrivelse
Discover the unique geography of Newfoundland and Labrador, two distinct regions with their own charm and accessibility. Newfoundland is an island reachable only by air or sea, while Labrador offers vast, rugged terrain with improving access.
An overview of Newfoundland and Labrador's geography and travel routes.
Newfoundland, known as Britain’s first and oldest American colony, is an island that can only be accessed by plane or boat. Ferries connect Nova Scotia to two locations on the island, and there is also a separate ferry service from Quebec to the island’s northern tip. This area includes the French Overseas Territory of St. Pierre et Miquelon, along with an inset map highlighting St. John’s, the capital of the province.
The second part focuses on Labrador, which covers a much larger area. While most of Labrador remains off-limits to the typical traveler, the recently paved Trans-Labrador Highway has greatly improved access, making it easier to explore than it was just a few years ago.
