Frederik Christian Sibbern was a leading Danish philosopher during the country's Golden Age, deeply influenced by German thinkers. He was closely connected with renowned figures like Fichte, Schleiermacher, Goethe, and Schelling.

A profound and detailed exploration of Hegel's philosophy by one of Denmark's key philosophical figures.

Sibbern had a long-standing interest in G. W. F. Hegel's philosophy but had not yet produced any comprehensive analysis. This changed in 1837 when Johan Ludvig Heiberg launched his new philosophical journal Perseus as part of his campaign promoting Hegelian thought. This provided Sibbern with the perfect opportunity to share his insights.

Over eight installments in the journal Maanedsskrift for Litteratur, Sibbern published an extensive critical review of Hegel's philosophy, framed as a response to the first volume of Heiberg's Perseus. In the autumn of 1838, he gathered the first four installments into a standalone monograph titled Remarks and Investigations Primarily Concerning Hegel's Philosophy.

This work stands out as perhaps the most thorough, detailed, and insightful analysis of Hegel's philosophy ever written in Danish. It also foreshadows many elements of Kierkegaard's later critiques.
