SURFACE is the fourth coffee table photography book by the acclaimed Danish photographer Søren Solkær. This collection features portraits of street artists captured around the globe, showcasing their connection to their art and urban surroundings.

A compelling exploration of street artists and their work through staged, atmospheric portraits.

SURFACE is a project that began in August 2012, focusing entirely on street artists. Søren Solkær photographs these artists alongside their own creations in various cities worldwide. The portraits are carefully staged and subjective, often incorporating artificial lighting, props, and masks to create a unique atmosphere.

The goal of this series is to explore the relationship between the artist, their artwork, and the urban environment they inhabit. It highlights both influential pioneers and key contemporary figures in public and street art.

The book is set to be accompanied by exhibitions around the world. In June 2015, it will be displayed at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen, featuring large-scale prints occupying 3000 square meters and attracting an audience expected to reach 20,000 visitors.
