This map highlights the major islands of French Polynesia with detailed insets, including a close-up of Tahiti Nui and its capital, Papeete. It also covers the broader Polynesian region, stretching from Hawaii to New Zealand and beyond.

The first side of this map features the main islands of French Polynesia, presented as large inset maps for clarity. An overall inset illustrates the many islands, but for greater detail, the individual island insets are necessary. The largest island shown is the volcanic Tahiti Nui, which includes a detailed inset of Papeete, the capital city.

The second side covers a vast and challenging area to map accurately. This region, known as Polynesia or the South Pacific, is mostly open ocean dotted with small islands that are essentially mountain peaks rising from beneath the sea.

The map extends from Hawaii at the top edge down to the northern tip of New Zealand at the bottom. It also includes the Queensland coast of Australia on the far left and the remote Pitcairn Islands on the far right. Between these points, you’ll find the Cook Islands, Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands.
