Beskrivelse
The Daughter of the Black Book Priest is a gripping tale set in Lofoten, following Agnete, a young girl whose innocent mistake leads to her mother’s tragic death. Forced to leave home after invoking a dark force, Agnete struggles to keep her past hidden while facing new dangers.
A haunting story of secrets, survival, and the fight to protect one’s identity in a remote fishing village.
Agnete's life takes a dark turn when she unintentionally reveals a secret to her father, resulting in her mother being burnt alive. Although spared by her father, Agnete's troubles continue when she accidentally summons "The Ugly One" by reading from the Black Book. This forces her to leave her home and seek refuge on the island of Værøy.
Determined to keep her true identity and her mother’s teachings a secret, Agnete faces new challenges. She must defend herself against puffin dogs and the relentless pursuit of Monrad, the eldest son of Mr. Oluf, who returns from Bergen with a strong sense of entitlement.
Above Værøy, sea eagles soar, and nearby, in a small fishing village next to Mr. Oluf’s house, lives a man with a mysterious connection to Utrøst, an island lost beneath the waves.
The Daughter of the Black Book Priest is the third standalone story in the Modern Tales of the North series, following previous volumes set in the Faroe Islands and Stavanger.
