Ruth is juggling worries about her department’s potential closure alongside her complicated relationship with Nelson.
The remains are identified as Emily Pickering, an archaeology student who vanished in the 1990s. Emily had been part of a course led by her Cambridge tutor, raising suspicion around him and another participant-Ruth’s friend Cathbad.
As the investigation unfolds, Nelson and his team reveal a complex web of connections among the students and their mentors. Just as progress is made, Cathbad mysteriously disappears. The search takes Ruth and Nelson to the Neolithic flint mines at Grime's Graves, setting off a race against time to uncover the truth and save their friend.
