Beskrivelse
A glimpse into the childhood and memories of George Manus, stepson of war hero Max Manus, capturing his early years on Landøya in Asker from age seven until he left home at 21.
A heartfelt collection of reflections and stories tied to Landøya and the legacy of Max Manus.
George Manus shares his perspective on growing up as the stepson of Max Manus, recounting his experiences from when he arrived on Landøya in 1946 until he moved away as a young adult. This book gathers a series of personal stories and reflections, all connected in some way to Landøya and his stepfather Max.
Since many of these tales date back 65 to 75 years, George includes a thoughtful reminder from author Gabriel Garcia Marquez: "What matters in life is not what happened, but what you remember and how you remember it."
Additionally, the book features three chapters from Max Manus’s war memoir Underwater Saboteur, along with photographs from that era, some of which come from Max Manus’s own collection.
