David Hockney. My Window

Beskrivelse

David Hockney embraced the iPhone and iPad as new tools for his art, creating vibrant digital drawings that capture fleeting moments from his Yorkshire home. His work explores the changing light and colors seen through his window over several years.

An artistic journey through time and light via digital drawings.

In spring 2009, David Hockney began experimenting with the iPhone as an artistic medium, discovering fresh creative possibilities. His initial digital sketches featured broad lines and vivid colors, capturing morning landscapes directly on the screen, which displayed subtle hues as pure, unmixed light.

By 2010, he expanded his digital artistry using an iPad’s larger display, allowing for a richer and more intricate play of color, light, and line. Each piece in this collection offers a glimpse through a window at his Yorkshire home, portraying everything from glowing sunrises and lilac skies to tranquil nights and the sudden bloom of spring.

The drawings reveal captivating details such as raindrops on glass, distant nighttime lights, reflections on vases, and a variety of plants on the window sill. This book showcases 120 drawings created between 2009 and 2012, personally selected and arranged by Hockney, inviting viewers to experience the passage of time through his eyes.

Originally released as a limited signed edition, this artist’s book is now available as an unlimited edition in a generous XL format, presenting Hockney’s vibrant impressions in stunning resolution. As noted by a Times critic, this is a perfect opportunity to receive a visual bouquet from David Hockney himself.
