Nightcrawling

Beskrivelse

Nightcrawling follows Kiara Johnson, a determined seventeen-year-old navigating a harsh world while caring for her younger brother. Faced with tough choices and a relentless fight to survive, Kiara’s story unfolds in the shadowy streets of her city.

A gripping tale of survival, family, and confronting corruption in a world that offers little protection.

Kiara Johnson’s life is far from ordinary. With her mother living in a halfway house and her older brother focused on his music studio, Kiara is left to look after herself and nine-year-old Trevor, whose mother frequently disappears for days.

When their landlord threatens to hike the rent, Kiara finds herself wandering the streets at night, determined to make it through a world that seems set against her. One evening, she is stopped by two police officers and offered a disturbing deal that could secure her freedom but drags her into the eye of a media storm.

If Kiara agrees to testify in a grand jury trial, she might help expose the deep corruption within the police department. However, speaking out comes with serious risks, putting her family in danger of retaliation and threatening everyone she holds dear.

Nightcrawling is a powerful, unforgettable novel that explores the struggles of young people forced to navigate the darkest parts of adulthood, told with a raw and captivating humanity.
