This second edition of Textual Analysis brings several updates and refinements compared to the first edition. The book now features 12 chapters, reorganizing and expanding on key topics for a clearer, more detailed exploration of textual analysis.

Expanded chapters and enhanced detail offer a deeper look into speech acts, text functions, syntax, and more.

In this updated edition, some subjects that were previously combined within chapters have been given their own dedicated sections. Speech acts, text functions, and syntax each now have separate chapters, increasing the total count from 10 to 12.

This restructuring allows for a more thorough and precise examination of these topics. For instance, the book provides a more detailed treatment of move structure, coherence and cohesion, as well as syntax compared to the 2011 edition.

Additionally, certain introductory material has been shifted between chapters to improve the flow and clarity of the content. A new feature in this edition is the inclusion of a text from Danske Bank, which serves as a practical example for analysis. After each chapter, readers will find a series of questions designed to guide their examination of this text.
