The Hobbit - Illustrated Edition

Beskrivelse

The Hobbit - Illustrated Edition brings to life the beloved tale of Bilbo Baggins with over 50 original illustrations by J.R.R. Tolkien. This special edition features the complete story alongside a rich collection of Tolkien's sketches, drawings, paintings, and maps.

An immersive illustrated journey into Bilbo Baggins' unexpected adventure.

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who cherishes a peaceful and simple life, rarely venturing beyond his cozy pantry at Bag End. His quiet existence is upended when the wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarves arrive, setting him off on an extraordinary quest "there and back again." Their goal? To reclaim the treasure guarded by the formidable dragon, Smaug the Magnificent.

Originally written for Tolkien’s own children and first published in 1937, The Hobbit quickly captured readers' imaginations. Early editions featured a charming cover, black-and-white illustrations, and maps drawn by Tolkien himself, with later versions adding color plates.

For over 85 years, Tolkien’s artwork has been closely linked to the story, yet only a fraction of his creative work had been published within the book. This enhanced edition changes that by presenting the full array of Tolkien’s art-more than 50 pieces including sketches, colored drawings, and maps-offering a deeper glimpse into the imaginative world behind the classic tale.
