The Hobbit Facsimile First Edition

Beskrivelse

Discover the original version of The Hobbit with this exquisite facsimile of the rare first edition. This edition captures the story as it was first published before Tolkien revised it in 1947, offering a unique glimpse into the classic tale's beginnings.

A faithful reproduction of Tolkien's very first edition of The Hobbit, preserving the story in its original form.

This beautiful gift set features a replica of the 1937 first edition of The Hobbit, which had a limited print run of just 1,500 copies. Adorned with a stunning cover design, nearly a dozen black and white illustrations, and two black and red maps drawn by Tolkien himself, this edition quickly became a beloved classic and was reprinted soon after its initial release.

The scarcity of this original edition has made it a prized collector's item, often out of reach for many fans. Moreover, significant changes made by Tolkien in 1947-especially to chapter 5 to align the story with The Lord of the Rings-mean that experiencing the book as it was first written has become rare.

This special facsimile edition brings the original text and format back to readers of all ages, allowing everyone-not just the "children between the ages of 5 and 9," as once described by Rayner Unwin-to enjoy Tolkien’s story exactly as it first appeared.
