Beskrivelse
N. F. S. Grundtvig was a remarkable figure whose work spanned theology, education, literature, politics, and history. His educational writings, in particular, have gained worldwide recognition, inspiring initiatives from the USA to Japan.
An influential voice in education whose ideas continue to resonate globally.
Grundtvig (1783-1872) was not only a theologian and historian but also a poet, hymn-writer, and translator. His extensive educational works have attracted international interest over the years, leading the European Union to name its adult education project the 'Grundtvig programme' in his honor.
The Grundtvig Study Centre at the University of Aarhus has taken on the task of digitizing and translating a wide range of his writings. This volume presents a diverse selection of Grundtvig’s educational texts in a fresh translation, including poems, songs, periodical articles, book introductions, an open letter to the Norwegians, and a private letter to the Danish King.
Together, these writings offer a comprehensive foundation for international scholars unfamiliar with Danish to engage deeply with Grundtvig’s educational philosophy.
This book is complemented by a CD in MP3 format, featuring readings of the texts by Edward Broadbridge and an introduction by Clay Warren.
