This map fills a long-standing gap by showcasing Armenia alongside its capital, Yerevan. Armenia emerged as an independent nation carrying the complicated legacy of Josef Stalin’s policies, which involved placing Armenian enclaves within neighboring Azerbaijan. This action sparked decades of tension after 1991, though most issues have now been largely settled. Despite this progress, relations with Azerbaijan remain limited.

Relations with Turkey are still chilly, even though border crossings appear on the map. In reality, these crossings tend to be closed since Turkey continues to claim a significant part of Armenia as Turkish territory. On the other hand, Armenia maintains fairly friendly ties with Georgia, where tourism between the two countries is thriving.

Travelers can fly into Yerevan or drive a rental car with Georgian plates across the border into Armenia.
